Clark Ruppert, Jr., Business Representative, District = Lodge 98 IAM&AW

 

Clark was born and raised in York, PA. A 1965 graduate of West York Area High School.=

 

Clark was initiated= into IAM Local Lodge 1400 in March 1966, after being hired as a Helper in the Hydrau= lic Laboratory by Allis-Chalmers, Inc. York, PA. (the Current Voith Hydro Power Generation, Inc)

 

He became a Tool & Cutter Grinder and Non-Journeym= an Machinist in the Tool Room.

 

He began his union activities as a strike captain in 1= 968. In 1969 was appointed chairman of the subcommittee to negotiate the Tool &a= mp; Cutter Grinders upgrade procedure.

 

He was elected as a Shop Steward in 1971 and Shop Comm= ittee in 1973. He was elected as co-chairman of the Shop Committee for LL 1400 in 1974.

 

He was elected as an alternate Delegate to District Lo= dge 98 in 1973 and  elected a regular Delegate in 1974. He served on the Districts Executive Board for several years prior to his appointment as District Lodge Organizer on Febru= ary 1, 1979.

 

Clark was appointed Organizer for District Lodge 98 in February 1979. In August 1982 he was laid off as an Organizer and returned to work at Allis-Chalmers. He was reelecte= d to the Shop Committee in 1983.

 

In October 1983 Allis-Chalmers sold the Precision Comp= onents Division  = to Precision Components Corporation (PCC). In 1984, Cla= rk was a charter member of the newly formed Local Lodge 1403 representing the workers at PCC. He was elected as the Vice President of Local 1403 and Chai= rman of the Shop Committee. 

 

Clark was elected as Business Representative for District 98, effective January 1985.  He was reelected to subsequent 4 ye= ar terms until he decided to retire.

 

He has continued to serve as a Delegate to District 98= .

 

Clark has been a de= legate to the York Adams County Central Labor Council since 1974. He served on the Executive Board of the York Adams Central Labor Council, (CLC) as a Trustee= .

February 2007 - He was elected President of the Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO.

In February 2009 he was reelected President of the York-Adams County Central Labor Council for another two year term.

 

Clark serves on the= Labor Advisory Committee to the = York County United Way. He served on the United Way Campaign Cabinet since 2007.

He serves on the York Area Labor-Management Council Bo= ard of Directors.

He was appointed to the York County 2000 Commission. <= /p>

 

Clark serves on the= South Central WorkForce Investment Board (WIB).

York County Economic Development Corporati= on Board of Directors.

 

Clark is long time = delegate to the Pennsylvania State Council of Machinists and is a Section Vice Presi= dent of the Pennsylvania State Council of Machinists’ since 1985.

 

Clark is married to= Lora his wife of 42 years. They have two daughters; Tammy Rinehart and Wendy Stumpf.

 

Three grandchildren Christina Rine= hart, Briana Stumpf, and Cole Rinehart.
