District Lodge 98, International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAMAW).

We are commonly known as "The Machinists Union".

District Lodge 98 was chartered in March 1941 for York County and its vicinity.

Today District Lodge 98's jurisdiction covers 42 counties in Central Pennsylvania, Corrections Officers in - Washington, D.C. and New Jersey.

The Counties are: York, Lancaster, Adams, Franklin, Fulton, Cumberland, Huntingdon, Perry, Juniata, Mifflin, Snyder, Dauphin, Northumberland, Montour, Union, Centre, Clearfield, Lycoming, Cambria, Blair, Bedford, Somerset, Clinton, Lebanon.

Effective 1-1-2005 the former DL 83 merged into DL98 representing 18 counties: Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Clarion, Crawford, Elk, Erie, Fayette, Forest, Green, Indiana, Jefferson, Lawrence, Mercer, Venango, Washington, and Westmoreland.

We have twenty-five (25) Local Lodge's in District 98.

Affiliated Local Lodges: 175, 243, 1400, 1403, 1778, 2058, 2171, 2348, 2367, 2530, 2779, 2906, WW#1, and Corrections Employees Local Lodge 1 & 2. (Former DL 38 locals are: 52, 1060, 1211, 1582, 1671, 1842, 1968, 2430, 2439, 2448.)

We represent workers at about one-hundred (100) companies, including municipalities, and four (4) Police Departments. We have large and small shops. Harley-Davidson, York being the largest with approximately 2,700 members. Our smallest shop (contract) is for three (3) members.

We represent workers in many different types of Industries and Services such as:

Metal Workers - Machinists, Tool & Die Makers, Machine Operators, Welders, Assemblers, Fabricators, Quality Assurance Inspectors, NDT Inspectors, Maintenance Millwrights, Electricians, Painters, Helpers, etc.

Automotive - Truck Drivers, Truck Mechanics, Automotive Technicians, Parts Department Employees.

Service & Public Service -

Heating and Air-Conditioning Service and Installation Technicians.

Township and Borough Municipal Workers, Road Maintenance Crews,
Police Officers, Corrections Officers and Office Workers.

Private Sector employees covered under the Service Contract Act.

District Lodge 98, is governed by District delegates who are elected from each local lodge. The District Delegates nominate and elect the officers and the Business Representatives who serve the membership.

The District Lodge meets on the third Saturday of January, April, September, and November. The meetings are held at the District Union Hall at 11:00 am. The Executive Board meets at 10:00 am prior to the regular meeting. The September meetings will be held in Western, PA. District Lodge 98 is represented by seven (7) full time Business Representatives, one (1) full time Organizer and one (1) Apprentice Organizer.
